Interview with Let's Rock

Ken from Let's Rock in Canada sat down to chat with Matt Jordan about his life and music. Read the full interview here

"Matt Jordan is a force of nature. We had the good fortune of attending a Reverend Horton Heat show on a chilly Ottawa night. We were drawn to the tour bus trailer by some incredible New Orleans ragtime/barrelhouse piano playing and had a chance meeting with Matt.

"First impression, great player. Second impression, unbelievably nice guy. Then the show! Matt complemented the power psychobilly trio as a phenomenal pianist who knows when to step up and when to blend. His infectious grin and positivity won over the crowd, and he was obviously in the zone. Follow Matt on social media and you will get a daily dose of someone who loves life. To Vancouver and beyond!

Hi, folks. It's been an incredible year so far, and it's only looking to get better. I've got a big announcement for you. Starting September 2nd, I will be on a national tour with the Reverend Horton Heat! Our first show is THIS SATURDAY in Ozawkie, KS. Check out our tour dates below and follow my page on Facebook for constant updates Here.

Come out and see us! This show is sure to get you fired up!

That's not all that's happened recently. It's been a busy year!

February saw me at the Lancaster Roots and Blues Festival, after which I had my first official gig with the Reverend in April, at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly weekend:

Vegas, baby!

Vegas, baby!

After that I headed off to do a few shows with the infamous Lucky Tubb, first in Savanna, IL and then Tucumcari, NM. I've seen way more of this beautiful country than I expected to in just a few short months!

Did some sightseeing, too. If you squint, you can see part of Cadillac Ranch in the background. Look it up - it's pretty wild.

After that, it was back to my neck of the woods. I had a blast playing the State Street Blues Stroll fest in Media, PA and another gig with the Rev in Philly. In the meantime, I've been playing all the local spots I know and love - PRESS Bistro, the Rambling Root - and I've recently been getting into tuning, restoring, and painting pianos. The better I know my instrument, the better I can tickle the ivories onstage. Here's a shot of the beauty I polished up early this year, in its forever home at the Rambling Root...

Purple Pie-Anna

Purple Pie-Anna

If you have an old piano you need tuned, serviced, or restored, let me know! When I'm not on tour that's my favorite pastime. I can paint it any color you want, too. Not all of them end up purple!

Last but not least, a few weeks ago I found myself playing at Kimbro's Pickin' Parlor in Franklin, TN. Let me tell you, those Tennessee folks know how to jam! I got to play some originals at the open mic. Check it out:

That's it for now. I'd like to say how thankful I am to have fans like you who read this page. Your support goes a long way. Don't forget to like and share my Facebook page, and I hope to see you this month on the road!

Sincerely, Matt

Good-bye 2016! Hello new year!

2016 has been noteworthy for Matt's Blues. I've made many friends, played a lot of places, painted a few pianos, traveled a little, and learned so much along the way. I've even begun the journey of becoming a piano technician (another lifetime pursuit)

John Lennon once said, "the more I see, the less I know for sure," and those words are pretty relevant. My knowledge of music, pianos, and life seems to come with an ever-increasing knowledge of what I don't know, and that's pretty humbling. Well, enough philosophy for now.

Right now, I'm pretty psyched about playing the Lancaster Roots and Blues Festival in February. I'm so thrilled to be a part of this! (Check out my artist bio here)

Also, I'm syndicated! Andy at Positive Johnstown was nice enough to mention me in his blog.

Lastly, I've been working on my Texas boogie...

I'm looking forward to being back in Johnstown, PA at the PRESS Bistro on January 21st and playing some more rock gigs with Cuzzin Eddy.

There's more cookin' that I can't announce yet, so stay tuned! Peace, love, and BLUES!!!

A Very Fine Weekend

I'd really like to thank everyone who helped me make this weekend a blast. It started with band practice, then a roadtrip to Ocean City, MD to play at the ribbon-cutting for T.C. Studios.

Jamie, Ali, Jason, Frankie, and JR... you guys rock!

The piano loves to travel!

Then, it was back to West Virginia to play with the David D. Band and cap off several months of fine Saturday nights at the Regatta Bar & Grille.

Now, I'm playing keys with Cuzzin Eddy, and booking as Matt's Blues for anyone who wants the low-down old-time PieAnna experience. Stay tuned!
