Hello! I'm Matt
I play a strawberry-painted piano that I take with me in my minivan. I love the music of New Orleans and put on a rousing show of pianistry, stories, and humor. I play for patrons, swing dancers, and random people on the street.
Forever the late bloomer, I became interested in music in high school. An Eric Clapton record turned me on to the blues, and so the study began. In college, as an escape from the prevalent alcoholism, it became something I took seriously. My technique developed and my blues indoctrination solidified during two years playing organ with the Dennis McClung Blues Band.
After stepping out on my own, I fell in love with the music of Dr. John and became fascinated with the piano. My chops blossomed with extra schooling from Soup Camel, Miss Freddye, and many other kind professionals who reached down to help me up.
Now, under the tutelage of the fantastic Tom Roberts, I am coming into my own zone as an artist and performer.
Props and thanks to...
